Doris Tennant and Ellen Lubell have contributed financial resources, time and expertise to organizations working to advance human rights, domestic and international relief efforts, environmental protection, healthcare, and nuclear non-proliferation. These have included organizations such as those listed to the left.
Pro Bono
In recognition of the firm's pro bono representation of a Guantanamo Bay detainee from Algeria, Tennant Lubell is the recipient of the 2008 Honorable David A. Rose Civil Rights Award from the Anti-Defamation League of New England, the 2007 Boston Bar Association President's Award, the 2007 Frederick Douglass Award from the Southern Center for Human Rights, and the 2007 Beacon of Justice Award from the National Legal Aid & Defender Association. Ellen and Doris have been concerned by the U.S. government's treatment of detainees at Guantanamo and the lack of legal process afforded to them. They have spoken together and individually on the subject of Guantanamo before many audiences and on television.
